El trabajo que hoy presentamos es una parte de los resultados del Seminario de Investigación realizado en la materia de Psicología Social de los estudios de Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Valencia durante el año 1999. En dicho Seminario hemos tratado de aplicar el conocimiento obtenido en las materias de Cognición y Pensamiento Social al objeto de los Servicios Sociales y los Trabajadores Sociales. Background Homeless services expend considerable resources to provide for service users’ most basic needs, such as food and shelter, but their track record for ending homelessness is disappointing. An alternative model, Housing First, reversed the order of services so that homeless individuals are offered immediate access to independent housing, with wraparound supports but no treatment or abstinence requirements. Motivation and metacognition: more than an interrelation

The aim of this article is to reflect on the possible relation between metacognition and motivation. Some aspects such as causality, locus of control or success expectancy can be conditioned by the metacognitive knowledge of students. We also establish a parallel between the development of metacognition and the characteristics of the kind of motivation in students. We incorporate this parallel with the learning styles that the students can apply in their studies.

This article offers an overview of some advances in cognitive and psycholinguistic approaches to translation and interpreting process research between 2006 and 2013, in order to provide context to the contributions to this volume. It provides some figures on publications and initiatives and then focuses on competence and expertise; writing; mental load and linguistic complexity; advances in research methods; revision and metacognition; cognition beyond conscious, rational thought; and recontextualized empirical research. The article closes with some notes on the overall tendencies in the area, in the sample of contributions, and in publishing.

Body movement has played an important role in music education and there appears to be a consensus that it is one of the most effective means to develop rhythmic skills. In this article, we relate and analyze recent findings of neurocognitive research that support formative actions in this direction. Some results show that the link between sensory and motor systems provides a sophisticated mechanism of temporal prediction and feedback, which has led to the belief that body expression influences the way certain rhythmic elements are perceived.
